Getting started...

                                                               Prepare yourself physically:

  • Choose a quiet place where you will not be disturbed, and a comfortable, upright seat.
  • If you can meditate in a garden then try it, but dress warmly.
            
  • You can use a candle or flowers to focus on initially, to help you to settle.  You could listen to some quiet music.
           
  • Sit with your back straight and your shoulders relaxed.  Feet should be flat on the floor.
              
  • Your hands can rest in your lap with palms upturned, the middle knuckles resting on each other, and thumb tips lightly touching, or alternatively, with palms downward flat on your thighs.
            
  • Lower your gaze (not your head) so that you look at the floor just in front of your feet, and close your eyes.
            
  • Breathe calmly, lower your shoulders and relax your body.
